OxDocs is a new annual documentary film festival at the University of Oxford, showcasing the best new films from across the globe that meld deep research with cinematic vision.
Bringing together researchers, filmmakers, and the wider Oxford community the festival will be a meeting place for the showcase and production of innovative research-driven cinema.
The film festival is designed around three pillars:
Film Programme
Showcasing the very best international documentary films, both feature films and short films, that are rooted in science and academic research and are pushing the boundaries of how research can be communicated through the cinematic form.
Talks Programme
The Talks Programme is designed to spark discussion and new ways of thinking at the intersection of science, research and cinema. This will include keynote lectures, panel discussions, interactive workshops, and social events.
OxDocs Co-Lab
The OxDocs Co-Lab is the festival’s engine house for developing and producing new collaborative research-embedded short films. Working with University of Oxford researchers, filmmakers and community groups, the OxDocs Co-Lab is a development and production programme that will result in the creation of collaboratively-made short films that will premiere at the inaugural edition of OxDocs Film Festival in November 2026.
